Lake Michigan

Welcome to Lake Michigan we did have rainbows but we had the rain too.

View from dock in Detour Mich. We stayed here three days waiting for engine parts to be delivered.

Purple sky and double rainbow in Detour.

This is Mackinac Island Michigan.  A real tourist attraction, there are no cars on the island everything is done by horse pulled carriages.    If you like fudge this is the place there are many fudge stores as well as T shirts and other favorites of tourists.

Luggage heading to hotel from ferry..

All merchandise and trash are moved by horse.

The famous pink pony lounge.

The ferries come whizzing by throwing up their rooster tales and throw big wakes which rock you.

This is a small section of the Mackinac Bridge.   I couldn't get it all in one picture.

We stayed in a brand-new marina in Mackinac City. We were right beside this Coast Guard cutter. Good smoked fish here.

We anchored in North Port at this beautiful spot with a sandy bottom, beautiful clear water for swimming, a nice little grocery store a short walk up the hill, and beautiful sunsets. I love this house right on the beach.

Happy hour was always fun on one boat or another. We have made lots of new friends along the way.

We're heading down Lake Michigan's Eastern shore, lots of sand dunes.

There must have been 20 swans in this lake. I couldn’t get them all in one picture.

In Grand Haven we were hit by gales that kept us in port for nearly a week. The port was not all that safe in that waves were 3 to 4 ft at the slip and caused minor damage on some boats.

Our first night stay in Chicago was at Crowley’s boat yard. We were in the center of rail yard and shipping. Trains were moving all night.

Above is three railroad bridges, two with 2 tracks one with 3. Farthest is down 2 nearest are up. I 90 is the bridge in background.

Lots of river traffic as well, this picture is from our deck.

This is approaching the city of Chicago after leaving Crowley’s.

I couldn’t resist a picture with this very nice police man on his horse who was riding right by our boat.  We had a very good slip in Chicago, a short walk to the walkway that goes on both sides of the river.

Pizza at the original Uno’s. Nothing like the chain. Which is linked in name only.

The Bean in Millennial Park.  It is  made of all polished Stainless Steal. We had walked down to the park with the dogs but just before we got to the bean a guard told us the dogs were not allowed, so Jay took them back to the boat and missed the bean.

I love this “Ring around the Rosie’s´ sculpture at the entrance to Navy Pier.

Next the Rivers.
