Mobile to Pensacola

Mobile to Pensacola

Ok you may be wondering how we got from Kentucky lake to Mobile AL and that is a story that I plan to add as soon as I can. But this year I am going to try to do better on the blog. One way is not to stop when you are behind. Yesterday we took off from Mobile. Forecast was for N winds 10 to 15 on bay with a heavy chop Temperatures high 30s to low 40s. Winds building to 15 to 30 by evening. Took off slightly before 8 am winds were 10 to 12 right on stern, by 11:00 they were mid 20s. Tried to sail but wind direction was variable, The constant change of direction was killing or DMG. So I motored most of way. Did get to motor sail with the Jib some on trip east. Saw our first dolphin came up to our bow, looked at our wimpy bow wave and took off. I don’t think he thought we would be much fun. No time for a picture.

Say Good by to Mobile.

We were planning to take two days to get to Pensacola But with wind and cold I was chilled to bone.   Joan could only do short stints at helm.   The idea of spending night without AC power did not appeal to us.   We headed to the Pensacola Yacht Club.  We had taken our Truck there yesterday and ED Helms, a member,  was going to take it some time in the next few weeks to Ft Myers for us.

Yes I am on Gulf and it is cold.

The sun came out about 10 minutes before we arrived in Florida still cold
