Ottawa the Capital of Canada

We were in Ottawa on Sunday so we were able to join the Ottawa ecclesia for meeting. It was their Sunday school picnic and they invited us to join them, dogs and all. What a wonderful time we had and what a wonderful little ecclesia. It’s so uplifting when you are traveling and homesick for your own ecclesia to be greeted so warmly.

All the kids (and adults) had a great time shooting off soda bottles filled with water and compressed air.

The Ottawa step locks 8 back to back locks without a break. Locks are wide and easy. Lock crew was great but it takes about two hours to get through by the end you are tired and need a rest.

Who discovered Lake Champlain and the most Americans will say Hudson. Most Canadians say Samuel de Champlain both were great explorers Here is a statue of Champlain overlooking Junction of Ottawa and Rideau rivers an area he unquestionably discovered .

Windsong on lock wall in the heart of Ottawa. Notice Parliament in background

Behind Parliament is an area dedicated to taking care of cats. I particularly liked this kitty, a very pretty brown. Although she matched the dogs, they did not get along very well so Jay walked the dogs away while I got a picture.
